GIVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT

A few years ago, I went to the eye doctor for a check-up. The doctor said I could wear reading glasses to ease the strain while on the computer for long periods of time. I spent the 300 dollars to get the fancy glasses and (WOW) they were too strong. I couldn't even stand to wear them.

I went to get another check-up this week (yes, three years later). Did you know it s recommended to get a check-up each year? Now I know. This (a new) doctor did an extensive examination of my eyes, inside and out. He found I didn't need the intense glasses I had purchased (I'm not bitter) but gave me a prescription for some very light magnification to ease strain.

Feeling bad about having nice glasses I had used about twice, I was introduced to a really cool program called, "Give the Gift of Sight." Here is a blurb from their website.

I gave my old (new) glasses to this organization. I felt better about the purchase!

I am sure there are several offices who allow donations but if you are interested, I went to Sears Optical in Lake Stevens (next to G.I. Joes).

Pastor Mel,

Thanks for this posting. Being a second grade teacher, I have a student that may benefit from this program. The Occupational Therapist and I are trying to figure out how to get a child a vision exam and glasses. The family has been unable to do so. We are even considering covering the cost so this child can see better! The Lion's Clubs is also a great resource. Thanks for the post-very helpful!!
