Last night the press released that the writer of "Healer" falsified the entire story behind why he wrote the song. He had testified of having had cancer, being healed and then getting it again. I am sure you can read about it many places.
I am saddened by this gross misrepresentation the power of Christ. I don't know why he felt he had to minister to people on his own strength and made up story but am praying for his recovery.
As a fellow songwriter and worship leader, I am praying we recognize our worship is not about someone's reason for writing a song but because OF God. Period. Psalm 22:3 tells us God is enthroned in our praises. Wherever we are and whomever we are with, we can offer our worship to God. It happens from the heart. It's not based on circumstance but the goodness of God. Yes, we praise Him for what He's done yet when things don't look right on the outside, we still praise Him because He is faithful. He brought me out of yesterday and He will surely take me through today...I'll stop preaching!
We, at The Rock have and are seeing many real life stories of healing. True and authentic. Joint pain, cancer, MS, back pain, broken jaw healed, sickness, and the list goes on. We were just testifying in staff yesterday. God heals today.
The scripture is littered with words of healing...
I Peter 2:24 tells us that "by His stripes I was healed." He bore our sickness on the cross.
3 John 2 says, "I will prosper in all things and be in health, just as my soul prospers."
Luke 5:17 tells us the power of the Lord will be present to heal me.
The very name of God...Jehovah Rapha means "Lord our healer."
...and many, many more.
The song is still a great song. It is loaded with scripture.
I will continue to pray, believe, write songs and worship our God and our Healer.
