Last Friday, Jeff and I had the honor of the Chavez' coming to dinner. Not only that, they brought a homemade Spanish meal! Sopapillas, carne asada, (my favorite) hand made tortillas...mmmmmm! I would include the rest but would misspell the words. We experienced great food, and great fellowship that night.
The table is an important piece of furniture talked about in the New Testament. Something special happens when people sit around the table. There may be laughter, tears, encouragement and great food! One thing is for sure; life is shared around the table. The early church in Acts 2 broke bread from house to house along with meeting together with one accord in the large assembly. They ate with gladness and simplicity of heart. It was all a part of the Lord adding to the church daily those who were being saved. Wow, daily people were being added. That's multiplication.
I am excited for Regional Reach Teams to commence in the fall. Leaders and hosts begin their training this next week. Training to connect people to the good news of Jesus Christ and connect people to The Rock. All this is done with you and your neighbors in mind. Please pray for this regional vision and its leaders.
You and I have a great opportunity to open our lives up to those around us. This includes our families, homes, passions and church. There is Life inside of you and a testimony you are living out and you need to share that. Share your faith; share the Life of Jesus Christ in you. Don't be ashamed. You are for real, you live in the same world as everyone else, you have made it through a lot, and you are reaching for a goal...share that!
Jeff and I had dinner with some friends last night. One mentioned he was sharing Life with a co-worker and was talking about The Rock. The conversation led to an invitation to call if he was interested in coming to the church. Then this friend stopped and said, "No, that is not good enough." He proceeded to specifically invite him to Easter. He gladly said he would like to come. It's as easy as that!
We are not defending our faith but sharing it. Unashamedly. Unapologetically. With kindness. With joy.
