DAY ONE

I wrote this last night, our first night in Puerto Vallarta. I was able to rent a wireless card today so I can now post on my blog.

I just had an incredible time processing the day and vision casting the rest of our trip with the interns. The interns, Kathy Warren and I arrived in Puerto Vallarta this afternoon. We will be here for several days to serve in our mission project. We then head to Topec where we will serve, perform dramas at an outreach and do some speaking.

Upon our arrival in PV, I hopped the airport shuttle and headed off to rent our large passenger van. The maintenance men were laughing at my expense because I told them I was driving. It didn’t bother me as we now had a connection. After having them pump up the low tires, I made my way back to load up the interns, Kathy and our luggage. To say we were crammed is an understatement. Check out the picture up top. At least they are smiling. LOL

We headed to Perdon Y Amistad (the church we work with) and got the interns situated, hydrated and had some ice breaking fun. We walked fifteen minutes to a our favorite taco stand, “Rocky’s.” The picture up top is of Rocky and myself. The owner looks like Rocky Balboa! The tacos were fabulous. I have to say sorry to Jeff because the tacos I made him last night were not as good as the ones I just had. I love you, Babe!

We finished the evening processing the day. I asked them to share their Kodak moments (moments that stood out) from the day. Here were some:
-When we stepped off the plane and hit the warmth. AHHHHH!
-I was surprised the ocean was so warm.
-While sitting on the plane, I was ministering to a woman beside me. I was surprised to realize my trip began before I arrived in PV.
-Finding other ways besides the language to show Christ’s love

We proceeded to talk about what is a mission trip and when does it begin.
Here were a few comments:
-A mission trip is coming to serve
-Stepping out of our comfort zone
-Showing love in our actions
-Obedience to God whenever and wherever He speaks
And the most profound statement:
-We are missionaries not only here but in our own backyard because sometimes we take for granted the Life we have to share every day

I look forward to a new day with the interns as we head to the dump, feed the children in several area schools and help the church with some odds and ends. Please pray for us as we serve. Pray for divine connections and God’s great grace to be upon each of us. Pray for miracles, signs and wonders to follow us, continued divine health and for BIG TIME FUN DOING GOD’S WORK!

Sydney and I prayed for you all today. That you would have fun, be safe, get to tell people about Jesus and "not accidentally drink that yucky water" :-). We love and miss you all! Sydney says it wouldn't be so bad that you're gone if we had gotten to go with you. Can't wait to hear the testimonies!
