WOOOOO!

As I was finishing my weight workout yesterday, I headed to the treadmill. About half way through my run, the man next to me gave out a great big, "WOOOO!" He had completed his run and it was apparent that it had been invigorating. I instantly thought, "There is no way I'd do that. How embarrassing."

Upon completion of my run, I decided to give out a moderate, "Wooooo!" It felt good to do something out of my comfort zone. I was not going to be driven by the fear of what people would think or plain old pride.

I remember the first time I lifted my hands in worship. Sure, it's in the Bible as an expression of worship but that doesn't make it easy. I remember sliding a hand up and turning beat red. With practice, it became easier and easier. I was creating a new comfort zone.

From age 9, I began running for school office, joining teams and doing all kinds of things which have taken me out of my comfort zone. I was set on overcoming my shyness and fears. On the mission field and in our everyday lives, we have the opportunity to create new comfort zones in sharing Christ, reaching for goals or even expressing our joy like the man on the treadmill.

So today, I hollered, "WOOOOO!" Several times at the gym. People must've thought I was nuts!

I love it!! Thanks, Pastor Mel, for leading the way!! I have learned more from you about growth and stepping out than from anyone, and it's great to know you are continuing to break barriers for us to follow in your footsteps!
