DID GOD KNOW?

I want to tell you that you have the right ingredients to fulfill all your purpose. God doesn't call the already equipped. He equips the called. God has called you. He has called you out of the miry clay, up off the floor of shame, out of the ditch of poverty and into His well-defined and straight path of purpose. It is no accident that you are breathing in this century. God could have had you born in the 1800's but He didn't. He chose today. Psalm 139 calls you His masterpiece. God wrought you in your mother's womb which means God knows you inside and out. He saw your potential and fashioned you perfectly to fit that. He didn't fashion you to be a copy of anyone else or to live out someone else's dream. He called you an original.

In my experience working with youth and today, working with The Quarry Interns, it is sobering to see the effect the world has on lives. Our internship program lasts 9 months and I am convinced that we cannot change a person's upbringing or past circumstances. Experiences we've had, opinions people have had of us have an effect one way or another. Even our actions have an effect on us. Everyone has made mistakes a time or two. Do you recall the account in the Word about Jonah and the whale? In short, Jonah had been disobedient to God, he was thrown overboard and a whale swallowed him for three days. Why was the whale there ready to gobble him up? Did God know he'd need to be rescued? Was God’s purposes going to come to pass even though Jonah would mess up?

Often times, there is a feeling around church that my past will keep me from excelling in the things of God. I have heard, "God couldn't possibly love me, I've messed up too many times." I believe that yesterday's in the tomb and tomorrow's in the womb. We are all in need of God's grace and mercy. In fact, His mercies are new right now. Take a moment to ask God for help. Think about those issues or feelings that are keeping you from reaching your full potential. Go and read Psalm 139 and get excited that there was no manufacturer's defect when God made you.

I am convinced that church is not about making bad people good, it is about making good people great. And as I say, "Everyone is at some stage of greatness."

Remember that quote:
"Good, better, best,
Never ,never rest,
'Til the good get better
and the better get best."

We are all God's best. We just have to get there. It's a process with no completion in sight. Every day is a new opportunity to be the best me I can be. The great thing is that I know the One who made me, and that makes the journey so much more enjoyable. I know that grace will get me where I need to be.
